About the name ... People have asked how I came up with "Quadsirs" for my Webshots user name. Well, quite simply, it was a mistake. But there's a bit more to the story than that. It begins many, many years ago when I was in grade school. As grade school girls so often do, my friends and I decided to make up a language of our own so that we could "communicate" without others knowing what we were talking about.
Our new language "Veranju" -- named for the three of us who created it -- was based somewhat on a basic substitution code, somewhat on our imagination, and had a smattering of Spanish, French, Latin, and Greek thrown in for confusion. But it was such fun! Many of our words sounded like normal English words; our meanings were much different, however.
A rabbit became a "leeper". Squirrels were "skollars". The language was so much fun to create and speak that a lot of the words -- and the basic construction rules -- have remained in my head throughout the years.
With the explosion of websites and portals requiring user names and passwords, I turned again to "Veranju". Choosing and using words from our silly grade-school idiom made it easy for me to remember my passwords for various sites. So, when I signed up at Webshots, I intended to use those two words -- web (quad) and shots (sirs) -- for my password. Somehow, I inadvertently entered them as User Name in error. Thus, I became Quadsirs.
Well, why not? I knew I'd certainly never forget my Webshots user name, and fortunately, I've never forgotten the password I then chose to go along with it. It's an odd name, but to be honest, I'm a bit odd, too.
So ... now you know the story behind Quadsirs.
